Two armed men ambushed a mother and her two young children as they walked out of their apartment in Harlem Monday, pushed their way into the home and pistol-whipped a man inside, police say.
The 29-year-old, her 9-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were walking out of their apartment in the area of 7th Avenue and West 111th Street just after 7 a.m. Monday when they were ambushed, police said.
The men, who appeared to be in their 40s, showed a gun and forced their way inside. The woman screamed, alerting a man who was sleeping inside, police said.
The 33-year-old man struggled with the attackers, who pistol-whipped him, then ran away, according to police.
The suspects are both described as being in their 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches and 220 pounds.
