Grandparents Charged in Death of NYC Boy, 3, Who Died Days Before Christmas: Cops

The grandparents of a 3-year-old Queens boy who died at a Long Island hospital just days before Christmas last year have been arrested and charged in connection with his death, authorities said Wednesday morning.

Sita Parsad-Moore, 42, and Vincent Moore, 40, both of Queens, are both charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17, police said.

Romeo Lewis' death was ruled a homicide in June, police said.

It was back on July 28, 2016, that authorities responded to a 911 call at Long Island Jewish Hospital for a report of possible child abuse. They say they found Lewis with bruising and trauma all over his body.

Police learned family members had originally brought the boy to Jamaica Hospital, closer to their home, and that he had been transferred. It wasn't immediately clear if those family members were the suspects charged.

It's not clear what transpired in the months between the 911 call over the summer and the boy's death just three days before Christmas.

It wasn't immediately clear if the pair had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
