Christie Honors Military at Memorial Day Event

The governor thanked members of the nation's armed forces and their families for their many sacrifices

Gov. Chris Christie and hundreds of residents braved hot and humid conditions to take part in a Memorial Day event staged at a military cemetery in southwestern New Jersey.

The governor thanked members of the nation's armed forces and their families for their many sacrifices.
 
He also took part in an honor guard procession and wreath-laying ceremony during Saturday's event Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
 
Other dignitaries who took part in the remembrance event included Brigadier General Michael Cunniff, head of the state's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and Raymond Zawacki, the department's deputy commissioner.
