The World’s Largest Pumpkin Is Coming to New York Botanical Gardens

The biggest pumpkin in the world is coming to New York City, and if you love fall you don’t want to miss it. Weighing in at a whopping 2,528 pounds, the largest pumpkin in the world, and largest ever grown in North America, is coming to the New York Botanical Gardens all the way from New Hampshire. The monster pumpkin is courtesy of grower Steve Geddes, and will appear at the gardens from October 20 through October 31.

From Saturday, during NYBG’s Giant Pumpkin Weekend on October 20 and 21st, visitors will have the chance to meet the growers, learn more about how they grow such large gourds, enjoy many of fun photo ops, and witness some of the other large pumpkins, weighing in at 2,283 and 2,114 respectively. The exhibit will only be open until Halloween.

This monstrous pumpkin is just one of the many giant pumpkins to be displayed at NYBG, courtesy of The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, the governing body of more than 80 official weigh-off sites worldwide, their supporting clubs, and growers, who have brought their biggest pumpkins to New York City for the Halloween season.

The largest pumpkin weighs in at 1.264 tons, and it holds the record of the largest pumpkin ever grown in North America.
