Heavy Delays on NY-Bound Side of George Washington Bridge

Traffic on the George Washington Bridge inbound to New York is heavily delayed because of emergency construction.

The Port Authority says that delays are topping 90 minutes on the upper level of the bridge late Wednesday afternoon. Delays on the lower level were about 45 minutes.

A hole through the deck on the Cross Bronx Expressway forced emergency construction, which shut down two lanes eastbound at Webster Avenue, according to traffic monitoring agency Total Traffic.

The repairs are complete, but delays were expected to last for awhile.
