Free Johns Return to Times Square

Charmin to reopen holiday restrooms

Can you hold it until November 24? That's when Charmin will reopen its free restrooms in Times Square, which has drawn long lines of holiday shoppers unsure where else to go.

The restrooms will stay open until December 31, according to a spokesman for P&G, Charmin's parent company. They'll be located in he heart of Times Square at 1540 Broadway, between West 45th and West 46th streets.

In 2006, the first year Charmin sponsored the facilities, 428,328 people visited the fancy johns, which were cleaned by an attendant after every use. Some people waited 45 minutes in the lines to get in.
