A former pharmacy owner has admitted to cheating insurance companies out of millions of dollars and bribing a psychiatrist.

Eduard Shtindler pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and paying illegal bribes.

The 36-year-old Paramus man faces up to 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced March 24 and will have to pay between $1.5 million and $3.5 million for each of the charged conspiracies to which he pleaded guilty.

Federal prosecutors say Shtindler and Empire Pharmacy received about $2 million in illegitimate reimbursement payments from medical insurance carriers. They also say Shtindler bribed an unnamed psychiatrist in Hudson County in exchange for the doctor encouraging patients to fill prescriptions at Empire from 2012 to early 2017.
