Follow the (Influence) Money

The site shows what companies donated to politicians

A Web site that helps New Yorkers track how money is spent to influence decisions in state government is getting an update.

The site, www.sunlightny.com, shows what companies donated to politicians and how those politicians voted on legislation.

The new version offers more data and features, and is easier to use. New Yorkers can still find information on elected officials, legislation, lobbyists and other state business. Now the site also links to the state budget, breaks down pork-barrel spending and offers Spanish translations.

Project Sunlight was launched by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in 2007 to open the business of state government to public review.
