Fleeing Armed Man Clips 5 Officers With Car in Brooklyn: Police

An armed suspect who was fleeing police in Brooklyn Sunday morning clipped five officers with his car as he drove away, the NYPD said.

An officer fired his weapon one time before the man fled, police said. No one was hurt in the shooting.

It all started around 11 a.m. when a resident of the Flatlands neighborhood called police to say they'd been arguing with someone blocking their driveway with a car on Avenue L.

Police said arriving officers learned a 33-year-old man in the car had a gun in his waistband and tried to arrest him. The man refused and as officers tried to apprehend him he made a move and an officer fired his gun, according to police.

No one was hit, but the man drove off, brushing five other officers as he fled, police said.

"I saw one vehicle take off and a bunch of cops chase after him," neighbor Avi Fleischer said.

The man crashed the car and allegedly fled on foot but officers caught up and arrested him. Police said his gun was recovered at the scene.

The five officers who were clipped were taken to Kings County Hospital with bruises and complaints of pain.

No charges have been filed.
