FDNY Responds to Running Man Challenge

The FDNY has responded to NYPD's call to answer their Running Man Challenge.

In a video posted to the Join FDNY's Facebook page, the FDNY firefighters and EMS paramedics featured in the 2017 Calendar of Heroes perform their own fiery spin on the running man dance at the FDNY Academy.

The video opens with a voice crackling over a radio: "Attention, all FDNY personnel. We have a running man challenge."

It then shows the firefighters and EMS, along with students from the FDNY Youth Workforce Development Program and the FDNY Training Academy, shuffling as they run in gear and even put out fires.

The NYPD had issued the running man challenge to the FDNY after it responded to a call to complete it by the New Zealand Police.

The Running Man Challenge -- a social media dance meme set to the 1995 song "My Boo" by the Ghost Town DJs -- is said to have been sparked in the mainstream by Maryland basketball players Jared Nickens and Jaylen Brantley, according to Sports Illustrated.

Other college basketball teams caught on, and soon professional sports teams and players were doing their own versions.
