Woman, 63, Dies in Staten Island Fire: FDNY

 A 63-year-old woman has died following a fire at a Staten Island home, according to the FDNY.

Officials say the fire started Tuesday at about 11:42 a.m. at the home on Annandale Road in Arden Heights.

Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, and they discovered 63-year-old Francis Quinones and her 66-year-old husband unconscious and unresponsive.

Rescue crews tried to resuscitate the victims, who were suffering from smoke inhalation, on scene. They were then transported to Staten Island University South Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead.

Officials say the fire started on the first floor of the building, and the victims were found on the second floor. It took 13 fire units to put out the fire, according to the FDNY.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
