Faculty and staff at nine colleges in New Jersey plan to protest for new contracts.

The members of the Council of New Jersey State College Locals will stage informational pickets and rallies across campuses on Wednesday.

The union represents more than 10,000 professors, staff and librarians at the state's public colleges except Rutgers and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Contracts expired on July 1 and the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.

Union members say they're seeking fair pay and want a "stable faculty core with long-term commitments."
