A building in the East Village was briefly evacuated after a wall inside a townhouse partially collapsed, the FDNY said.
The department received a call reporting a partial wall collapse inside of 301 E. 10th St., across from Tompkins Square Park, at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, it said.
The four-story building is vacant, and there are active buildings permits for renovation at that address, according to the Deparment of Buildings.
Firefighters and the buildings department responded, and after the buildings inspectors deemed the building safe, residents were allowed to return to the building. Buildings on each side of the building were also deemed safe.
The street was also reopened to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
No one was reported injured in the partial collapse.
