A mother and her 10-month-old baby are dead, and three other children are injured at a hospital after a vehicle careened into them late Sunday in a Dutchess County town, authorities say.

The family was hit by the GMC Yukon around 8:30 p.m. on Route 52 near Old Glenham Road in Fishkill, according to police. The mother, 28-year-old Zuleyma Lopez, and her toddler son, Abel E. Torres-Lopez, were declared dead at the scene, officials said.

The three other children were taken to an area hospital to be treated, however, their conditions were not immediately clear.

Video from the scene shows a massive police presence along with several items littering the road, including clothes and a baby stroller.

The names, ages and genders of the victims have not been released.

It wasn’t clear why the pedestrians were hit. The 53-year-old driver stayed on the scene, but there's no word whether they will face charges. A damaged SUV was towed away from the scene.
