A 28-year-old driver and his passenger died after he lost control of the minivan they were in and hit a pole and tree, the NYPD said.

Joseph Pellott, 28, of Brooklyn, was traveling east on South Conduit Avenue near JFK Airport in Queens around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of the Dodge Caravan he was driving and hit a light pole and a tree, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call found the van overturned with Pellott and a male passenger inside.

Pellott and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, the NYPD said. The passenger’s name and age weren’t immediately released.

The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is looking into the crash.
