Owner Gets Summons After Dog Kills NJ Teen

Paul Clarke of Paterson has been issued a ticket for having an unlicensed dog and another for having a dog "running at large"

Authorities in New Jersey have issued two summonses to the owner of a dog that attacked a 13-year-old boy who was later found dead.

Paterson animal control officer John DeCando tells The Record that 50-year-old Paul Clarke of Paterson has been issued a ticket for having an unlicensed dog and another for having a dog "running at large."

Police say the 115-pound bull mastiff attacked two 13 year-old boys and Clarke in Paterson on Friday. Kenneth Santillan's body was found hours after the attack partially submerged in a brook.

A cause of death has not yet been determined. His funeral is scheduled for Thursday.

The dog was euthanized following the attacks. The tickets carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
