Crash on Cross Bronx Expressway Brings Delays to 2 Hours on GWB

Delays have hit more than two hours on the upper level of the George Washington Bridge and an hour on the lower level following a crash that caused a traffic nightmare Tuesday morning.

The crash temporarily shut down the Cross Bronx Expressway eastbound at Jerome Avenue and is causing the delays into the tolls of the GWB.

Delays reached 50 minutes just before 5:30 a.m. A short time later the left lane of the Cross Bronx had reopened, but the delays on the GWB escalated to 90 minutes, then higher.

Lincoln Tunnel delays are up to 45 minutes, while the Holland Tunnel is up to about 30 minutes.

The commute wasn't much better for NJ Transit riders. A disabled train caused up to 30-minute delays on the high-trafficked Northeast Corridor line.
