High-Rise Apartment Fire Kills 2, Injures 6 in NYC: Police

An apartment fire in the Bronx early Saturday killed two men and injured six other people, police said. 

The fire broke out shortly after 1 a.m. at a high-rise building on Tremont Avenue in Parkchester, the NYPD said. 

John Quinones, 75, who lived on the 10th floor, was found unconscious and pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital, police said. 

A second man, whose name wasn't released, was found in a hallway and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

Among those hurt, two people had critical injuries and two had serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to firefighters. Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries.
