Ten people were injured after a school bus and a bus carrying adults with developmental disabilities collided in Greenwich, police said.

The crash happened on King Street south of Rye Lake Avenue, near the New York-Connecticut border, around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Greenwich police said.

The school bus driver, who was the only person on the school bus when the crash happened, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries, Greenwich Police Department Captain Kraig Gray said.

Nine people on the other bus, including the driver and seven adults with developmental disabilities, were also injured, Gray said.

The injuries ranged from broken bones and contusions to head strikes, he said, without providing additional details.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, according to police.

The street was temporarily closed off in both directions as officials investigated the crash, police said.

Sacred Heart Greenwich, a Catholic all-girls school, confirmed that one of its buses was involved in the crash. The bus was on its way to pick up two students when the crash happened, the school said.
