21-Year-Old Long Island College Student Missing for Days May Need Medical Help: Officials

A 21-year-old Long Island college student hasn't been seen in days, and authorities say she may be in need of medical attention.

Courtney Murphy was last seen at her Stony Brook University campus shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses who saw her reported that she appeared to be disoriented, and campus cops are asking for help bringing her home.

Murphy is described as being about 5 feet 3 inches tall and 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Campus police say they believe she left the school and may have been heading for New York City or Niverville in Columbia County. At this time, they say foul play isn't suspected.

Her friends posted photos on social media asking for help finding her. One said Murphy is from upstate New York, which may be why authorities thought she could be heading to Niverville.

"If anyone knows where she is, or sees her around train stations or bus stops, please let me know!" friend Haley Carrigan wrote on Facebook. "We are worried about her and so is her family. Thank you!!"

Anyone with information about Murphy’s whereabouts is urged to contact University Police at 631-632-3333 or the New York State Missing Persons Clearinghouse at 800-346-3543.
