Ex-Couple Settles Dog Dispute After Court Fight

Each wanted to keep custody of Bubkas, a Maltese

A lawyer says a former New York City couple's custody dispute over a dog has been happily resolved after a judge said leaving a pet with an ex for a couple of months doesn't amount to giving up the animal.

Lawyer Ronny Buni said Thursday the case was "amicably settled" but wouldn't give details. He represents Kyungmi Lee. She wanted to keep the Maltese, named Bubkas.

Her ex-boyfriend, Adam Le Conte, got the dog while the couple lived together in 2009. After a December 2010 breakup, Lee took care of Bubkas for about two months.

A Manhattan Civil Court judge said Le Conte should get Bubkas back. The New York Law Journal first reported the ruling Thursday.

Efforts to reach Le Conte's lawyer were not immediately successful.
