Condo Tries Luring Buyers With ‘Obama Clause'

A Manhattan developer is trying to lure buyers to his new condominium tower with a sales gimmick

A Manhattan developer is trying to lure buyers to his new condominium tower with a sales gimmick -- an "Obama contingency clause" -- aimed at Democrats.

Anyone who signs a purchase contract before Election Day can back out, no questions asked, if John McCain beats Barack Obama.

Developer Erik Ekstein says he's willing to put the "Obama contingency clause" in any contract signed before Nov. 4.

Ekstein says he got the idea after hearing from apartment hunters who said they won't be buying property at all if the Republican wins. Ekstein says an Obama presidency will be better for the economy.

Republicans accuse the Democrat of being a tax-and-spend liberal and say McCain has a better economic plan.

The building is in Manhattan's Chelsea section. Asking prices top $2 million.
