Charge Against Sean Bell's Fiancee to Be Dismissed

Nicole Paultre Bell, and more than 200 others were arrested May 7, 2008

A Manhattan judge says he intends to dismiss disorderly conduct charges filed against Sean Bell's fiancee who was arrested while protesting his fatal shooting by police officers.

Three detectives were acquitted in connection with the 50-bullet volley that killed the 23-year-old Bell and wounded two of his friends early Nov. 25, 2006, the day of Bell's wedding.

His fiancee, Nicole Paultre Bell, and more than 200 others were arrested May 7, 2008, while protesting the acquittals in demonstrations at bridges, tunnels and busy intersections.

Paultre Bell legally took her Sean's last name after his death.

Criminal Court Judge Barry Kamins said Wednesday he was adjourning Paultre Bell's case "in contemplation of dismissal." This means if she has no arrests in the next six months, the case will be dismissed and sealed.
