Police arrested a Long Island school teacher who allegedly returned to a bar he had been asked to leave and then became belligerent with officers who tried to take him into custody.
Authorities say police got a call from the Triangle Pub on Old Montauk Highway in Eastport just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday reporting a patron, Jay Condrill, 47, who was asked to leave because he was allegedly acting disorderly.
Condrill initially complied with the bar's request, but then returned, officials said.
Two police officers saw Condrill get out of his car, apparently intoxicated, officials said. When they tried to arrest him, the Central Islip teacher allegedly threatened to physically harm the officers and refused orders to place his hands behind his back.
The officers used physical force to restrain him and had to deploy a Taser in order to take him into custody, authorities said.
Condrill was charged with driving while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
He was processed at the Seventh Precinct and then transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue in accordance with departmental procedures, officials said.
