Car Veers from Queensboro Bridge, Crashes, Again

A car veered from the Queensboro Bridge Saturday morning, crashing into a Queens Plaza building -- the same place two other cars have crashed in the past two months.

The car smashed the building at Crescent Street and Queens Plaza South. The driver was sent to the hospital. That person's condition was not immediately known.

The Queens Plaza off-ramp had recently been redone as part of the Queens Plaza Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Project.

Last month, two people were injured in the same spot when a driver lost control of his 2006 Volkswagen Jetta as he came off the bridge. The 39-year-old driver was later arrested for operating a vehicle without a license.

And on March 28, a car exiting the bridge crashed into the same row of stores. A 68-year-old taxi driver standing on the sidewalk was killed, and the driver in that crash lost his arm.
