Hit-Run Driver Rams Into Long Island House, Police Probe Intent

Police are investigating whether the driver crashed into the house intentionally

Police are trying to determine whether a driver intentionally plowed his car into an occupied house in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island late Wednesday night.

The car rammed into the house on East Walnut Street in Central Islip at about 10 p.m., police say, causing extensive damage. No one inside was injured.

After the crash, the car left the scene, police say.

Officers are looking for the driver.

A witness at the scene said that the driver initially rammed into a nearby detached garage, which also had apparent heavy damage. The car returned about 15 minutes later, the witness said, when it slammed into the house.
