The driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve in New Jersey Thursday, launching it onto the patio of a medical association and into the front of the building, officials say.
Debris from broken pillars and other material littered the area in front of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey on Riverside Avenue as authorities surrounded the vehicle, half of which appeared wedged inside.
Police said the SUV was traveling north on Riverside around 10:45 a.m. when the driver apparently lost control. Two people in the SUV were taken to hospitals, though the VNA said in a statement they suffered only minor injuries.
No one inside the building was hurt, but it was evacuated as a precaution as inspectors were dispatched to assess the structural integrity.
"We would like to thank the local police and emergency personnel for their swift response and for assisting the vehicle’s driver and passengers," a spokesperson for the health group said in statement.
