One person died and about six were taken to hospitals with minor injuries after a head-on collision between a bus and a car in Orange County Friday, authorities say.
Route 17 near Duck Cedar Plaza in Tuxedo was shut down for hours after the 10:30 a.m. accident as authorities investigated.
It wasn't clear exactly how many people were on the bus, but a Tuxedo official said about a half-dozen were taken to hospitals with minor injuries and the rest were brought to a school to escape the frigid weather.
Photos showed a completely demolished car under the front driver's side of the bus. The windshields of both vehicles were shattered.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The accident follows a major winter storm that dumped more than a foot of snow on much of the tri-state area, including parts of Orange County.
