Commercial office buildings in Wallkill were evacuated Tuesday following a large gas main break, according to the Orange County Fire Department.
Officials said the gas main broke at about 11:30 a.m. near Crystal Run Road. Some roads in the immediate area were closed, but it was not immediately clear which ones.
The fire department shut down the gas and was checking nearby buildings for hazards.
It is unclear what caused the main break.
