A construction worker at a Brooklyn site has died after falling inside a shaft, police say.
The 22-year-old worker was inside a home under construction at 1229 45th St. in Borough Park when debris fell on top of him, causing him to fall in the shaft from the second floor to the first floor, according to police.
He was taken to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The worker has been identified as Alex Santizo of Briarwood, Queens.
No one else was injured, police say.
A report on the website of the city's buildings department said the debris had fallen from the ceiling.
