Brooklyn Man Wounded While Responding to Bogus Car Ad in Rhode Island

Police say the man is expected to survive

A Brooklyn man was grazed in the head by a bullet during an attempted robbery set up by a phony car-sale ad on Craigslist, Rhode Island police said.

The man, whose identity wasn't disclosed by police, is expected to survive his wound.

The man and his wife drove from New York to Providence on Friday to buy the car and arranged to meet the purported seller a few blocks from Brown University.

The couple met the man at about 11:20 a.m. and he then tried to rob them while wielding a small-caliber handgun, police said. The two men scuffled and the gun went off.

The would-be robber fled. The wounded man was taken to a nearby hospital.
