2 Armed Robbery Suspects Surrender After Police Standoff

Two armed suspects who police say were attempting to rob a Brooklyn liquor store surrendered to police Wednesday following a four-hour standoff.

Wearing a white t-shirt and with his hands in the air, the second of two suspects emerged from the Arrow Liquor Store in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn around 5:30 p.m.

Police were called to the store on Avenue N and East 48th Street around 1:30 p.m. after a passerby reported seeing two armed suspects enter the establishment.

Witness John Rooney said he knew something was up "when it's 90 degrees outside and two guys wearing hoodies walk into the liquor store."

For a short time, the two suspects also had four people with them inside the store, police said.

The suspects either let those people go or they managed to escape, police said.

The first officers on scene said they heard a gunshot and then retreated in order to call more emergency service units.

Nobody was injured.  The identities of the two suspects was not immediately known.
