Brooklyn Couple Dead in Apparent Murder Suicide

Vincent Tropeano was found Saturday with a gunshot wound to his head and a gun nearby

Police say a 74-year-old man apparently killed his ailing wife and then turned the gun on himself in their Brooklyn home.

Vincent Tropeano was found Saturday with a gunshot wound to his head and a gun nearby. His 63-year-old wife Elain was also shot in the head and was found in her bed.

Police say an attendant who helps care for the wife came to the home and found the husband with a gun. She fled, and called 911. When police arrived, both the husband and wife had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The wife was believed to be confined to the first-floor of their three-story home in Canarsie, Brooklyn because of her illness. Police weren't sure of her specific ailment.
