Grandmother Collapses on Bronx Sidewalk When Bricks Hit Her in Head: NYPD

A 65-year-old woman standing on a Bronx sidewalk was injured when bricks hit her in the head, and police say the bricks may have been thrown from a building rooftop.

Police believe someone threw at least one brick from a Morris Avenue roof in Mount Eden at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, hitting the victim as she was walking near the front door of her apartment building.

The victim's granddaughter found her lying on the sidewalk.

"I just ran outside, and she was on the floor, bleeding," said Tayah Johnson.

"She was really knocked out. I thought she was dead," said building superintendent Carlos Cruz.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital, and is listed in serious but stable condition.
