SUV Crashes Into Bronx River in Yonkers

Rescue crews were on the scene Monday after an SUV crashed through a guardrail and plunged into the Bronx River in Westchester County.

The vehicle was heading north on the Bronx River Parkway near Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers when it crashed over the guardrail on the banks of the river, authorities say.

Chopper 4 captured rescuers using a winch to hoist the vehicle back up over the embankment.
It’s not clear if anyone was injured. The vehicle was pulled back onto the roadway at about 8:30 a.m.

It's not clear what caused the crash.

Northbound lanes on the Bronx River Parkway were closed while crews worked. The roadway reopened at about 9 a.m.
