Bronx Bouncer Fatally Shot

Gunman reportedly was aiming at another bouncer who kicked him out of the club earlier

A club bouncer in the Bronx was fatally shot on the job early Sunday morning.

Police say the 26-year-old man was shot in the neck just before 6 a.m. at The Pit Lounge at 266 White Plains Rd. in the Bronx. Witnesses told the New York Post the bullet was meant for another bouncer who had been involved in breaking up an earlier fight inside the nightclub.

"He was just standing by the doorway and boom, it happened," a witness told The Post.

He "was gurgling, he couldn't talk," the witness said.

Two bystanders tried, unsuccessfully, to revive him with CPR, witnesses said.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim has not been identified, and no arrests have been made. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
