Men Try to Lure Boys, 11 and 12, Into Pickup Truck on Long Island: Police

Police are investigating after two men tried to lure two young boys into a pickup truck on Long Island Tuesday.

Authorities say the boys, ages 11 and 12, were riding their bikes near Bayview and Ocean avenues in Seaford around 6:40 p.m. when two men in an older model white pickup truck, possibly a Ford, pulled up alongside them.

The passenger in the truck asked the two boys if they needed a ride, according to police. The boys told him they had to call their parents and the truck drove off. It's not clear if the children were on their way home from camp or some other school program at the time, police say.

The driver is described as a white man with gray curly hair. The passenger is believed to be in his mid 30s with short black hair and a receding hairline; authorities had no racial or ethnic description of him.

The truck had a ladder in the back and a yellow New York license plate, though the plate number wasn't known.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Police at 516-573-6752 or 911.
