Man Arrested in Shooting of 11-Year-Old Boy in the Bronx

Police do not believe the child was the intended target, but they do not yet have information on who was the target.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident in the Bronx involving an 11-year-old boy.

The victim was hit in the stomach by a bullet that came through the door of a second-floor apartment in the Bronx Thursday night.

Kijani Jenkins of the Bronx was arrested Saturday and charged with a slew of charges including  first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities say three shots were fired in the building on Creston Avenue, and one went through the apartment door, hitting the child.

The child is still in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital after the shooting. Police do not believe the child was the intended target.
