An 8-year-old boy has been struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle while crossing a Brooklyn street.

Police are looking for the driver of the SUV after the vehicle sped off without stopping.
         
They say Elijah Thomas was crossing Seaview Avenue with his mother when he was struck by a light-colored SUV about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. The boy's mother was unhurt.

The child was taken unresponsive to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
