Headless Woman Missing Parts of Legs Found Floating in Brooklyn Waters

Cops seek public's help identifying headless woman found drifting in Red Hook Channel

Police confirmed the woman pulled from Brooklyn's Red Hook Channel Tuesday had no head and was missing parts of her legs, and they're asking for the public's help in identifying her.

Authorities released an image of a tattoo found on the woman's body early Wednesday, a bit more than 12 hours after her remains were pulled from the water.

A couple walking by the water first found the body Tuesday.

"I said to my husband you know that looks like a body, no, it's two pieces of wood. I kept staring at it and clearly the shape was a backside and two thighs," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine how she died.

Anyone who recognizes the tattoo pictured above should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
