Mayor Michael Bloomberg is meeting with the chairman of the national GOP as he tries to convince New York City Republican leaders to give him their ballot line this year.
Bloomberg and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele are getting together with other local Republicans behind closed doors Wednesday in Manhattan.
The former Republican mayor was once a Democrat but is now without a party. He is trying to persuade city Republicans to let him run on the Republican line in the mayoral election.
If he did not have a major party line, his name would not be as prominent on the ballot.
