The "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" is back to provide another grand display of fireworks. The best spot to watch it live and in person is from the East River. If you can’t make it, there is a two-hour broadcast of the spectacle on NBC 4 at 8 p.m. To avoid all of the hustle-and-bustle of the city and watch Fourth of July fireworks out on Long Island.

Coney Island: A July 4 fireworks display will kick off on the Coney Island boardwalk at 9 p.m.

Montauk: Umbrella Beach is a great spot to sit back on the sand and watch the fireworks. Show begins at 9:15 p.m. at Umbrella Beach, also known as Kirk Park Beach (742 Montauk Highway). Rain date July 5.

Don't let the 4th be the only day to celebrate Independence Day. The celebration continues on July 12 in the Bronx. The Boogie Down borough leads off the New York Philharmonic's summer concert series. After the classical program, enjoy a fireworks display. Located at Van Cortlandt Park (Enter from Broadway near West 251st Street). Concert site is north of the baseball fields.

The Staten Island Philharmonic celebrates Independence Day with an outdoor concert before the sky lights up. Head to the Alice Austen House (2 Hylan Boulevard) in Rosebank.

Wantagh: The fireworks display at Jones Beach State Park commences at 9:30 p.m. Arrive early for great seating -- bring a blanket or chairs and listen to music as you watch the show. Parking is $10 per car.

Valley Stream: Spend your Independence Day at Fireman’s Field, where there will be music and children’s activities before the grand fireworks display. Tickets are needed for entry, sold for $10 per person and can be purchased at the gate. Gates open at 6 p.m.
