It's summertime and the bears of Alaska are ready to gorge.
EXPLORE.org has switched on its highly anticipated Bearcam in Alaska's Katmai National Park & Preserve for the summer, the fourth season the organization has graced nature lovers worldwide with the opportunity to see the majestic bruins fish for salmon in the wild.
Each year, more than 100 brown bears descend on a mile-long stretch of Brooks River to feast on the largest Sockeye Salmon run in the world, according to Explore.org. Viewers can watch the bears on the livecam 24/7.
And for more fun, this year's Bearcam has an add-on that lets viewers take a snapshot from the feed and vie in daily contests for the best shot.
“We are broadcasting from a truly magical place. I hope people use Bearcam to relax, to reconnect with what’s beautiful and to have fun sharing those moments of nature with other people around the world,” EXPLORE.org founder Charles Annenberg Weingarten said in a statement. “The cams are a digital sanctuary where people can use nature as tool to restore themselves.”
