The bags were found near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Elmhurst

Authorities discovered several bags of bones near train tracks in Queens after a homeless man found the first bag containing a skull.

Police say he found the bag with a skull and other bones while collecting cans Saturday near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Elmhurst.

Officers responded and searched the area, finding two more bags nearby that contained additional bones.

A torso and leg bone were also among the remains.

The medical examiner will try to determine a cause of death, age and gender for the remains.
