An 8-month-old baby was left with a bump on her head after her stroller rolled off a subway platform and onto the train tracks, law enforcement sources said.
The girl’s father was pushing her stroller on the northbound train platform at 72nd Street on the Upper West Side Thursday morning when the stroller’s wheels malfunctioned, sending it rolling off the platform and onto the tracks, the sources said.
The father jumped onto the tracks and lifted the stroller and baby back onto the platform with help from a Good Samaritan, according to the sources.
The girl was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital with a bump on her head, but was expected to be OK, the sources said.
The operator of a 2 train on the northbound express track at the station witnessed the stroller roll onto the northbound local track, the MTA said Thursday.
The platform wasn’t crowded when the incident happened, and there weren’t any oncoming trains approaching at the time, the agency noted. Service was suspended for around five minutes, it added.

“We’re so glad this incident was resolved quickly with apparently no serious injury and are proud of our front line employees — from an eagle-eyed train operator to the attentive team at the Rail Control Center — who did a great job in reporting and acting on this immediately,” NYC Transit President Andy Byford said in a statement.
