A 43-year-old man wearing traditional Muslim garb was attacked in the Bronx by a small group of people who yelled "ISIS, ISIS" as they beat him, police said Saturday.
The victim, dressed in a shalwar kameez, was walking in front of Junior High School 125 Henry Hudson at about 5:30 p.m. Friday when the attack occurred, police said. He was walking with a 9-year-old girl who police believe is his niece.
The assailants, shouting "ISIS, ISIS," punched the victim several times in the head and kicked him after he fell to the ground, police said.
The girl wasn't harmed, police said.
The incident is being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force.
The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
