The 28th annual New York Cares Coat Drive kicked off Tuesday, with an ambitious set of goals for one of the city's best-known charities.
Last year's drive took in $450,000 in donations and was able to collect more than 100,000 coats, one of the biggest tallies in the operation's history. This year's target is a record 125,000 coats.
Donors can drop off at hundreds of locations around the city, including police precincts and major train stations, or text "COAT" to 41444 to give $20 to buy a new coat.
Details on donations and drop-off locations can be found here. The drive runs through Dec. 31.
