There will be no time for late and half-baked cupcakes this Monday at Union Pool, as all entries in the Third Annual Cupcake Cook-off must arrive "baked, frosted, staged and assembled" to impress the panel of cupcake judges and win the prize for the best cupcakes in Brooklyn.
In the cook-off, where bakers, food lovers and cupcake extraordinaries compete to win four primary prizes, cupcakes will be judged on taste and decoration from 7-9 PM.
Only six or so go to the panel, the rest are for event attendees - people like you who can just show up, eat their faces off and vote. Then, the winner of the "Popular Vote" gets the grand prize - a Cuisinart Stand Mixer!!! As expected, one must make cupcakes to win cupcake machines to make more cupcakes and the cycle continues. In an unusual twist, entrants can buy votes from the organizers and simply vote themselves up. Travesty? Not at all.
All purchased votes benefit the Greenpoint Soup Kitchen, so there's no problem here with bribing the vote. Union Pool is located at 484 Union Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The event starts at 7pm, and will most likely sell out.
