NY Youth Football Coach Pleads Guilty to Heroin Possession

A former Pop Warner football coach from Rockland County pled guilty to felony heroin possession, District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said in a statement.

Theodore Holmes pled guilty to one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance after an undercover surveillance operation, according to the district attorney's office.

"This defendant is the last person you would want coaching young athletes," Zugibe said in a statement.

Holmes was caught on a wiretapped phone call with an alleged heroin trafficker, placing an order for heroin that he planned to sell to his own customers in July, 2015, Zugibe said.

After buying the heroin, he drove from Spring Valley to Orange with a 13-year-old football player from his Pop Warner team.

Police tried to pull Holmes over, so he led them on a pursuit and ordered the 13-year-old to toss the drugs out of the moving car, authorities said.

Holmes was held without bail in Rockland County, Zugibe said. He will be sentenced Aug. 9.
