Woman Hurt After Driving off Road, Plunging Into Yonkers Construction Site: Authorities

A woman was seriously injured after she drove her car into a construction site 30 feet below the road in Yonkers, authorities say.

The woman drove through a construction fence on Warburton Avenue and plunged into the deep hole at about noon on Monday, authorities say. The vehicle landed on its roof.

The woman was conscious when emergency crews arrived on scene, but she appeared to have a cut on her head. Crews freed her from the vehicle and she was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

It's not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

Yonkers police say they are investigating.
